You CAN survive on minimum wage and just barely get by, unless you have multiple kids. But then again, nobody is forcing you to have multiple kids on minimum wage. Actions have consequences. The real intent of minimum wage is for students who want to save

Answers:

Because they understand neither freedom nor economics

liberals are not very smart

Why Conservatives Oppose Raising the Minimum Wage

https://www.thoughtco.com/why-conservati...

We have great economy now. If the wage remains low, it means the working class is exploited. That is the meaning of a minimum wage law originated from New Zealand.

They really REALLY NEED THE VOTES !!!!!

What do they expect to come from it is a better question. Living wage was never advertised. It is to combat people being taken advantage of.

Min wage is the least you can pay an American. Isn't this why our rich, our government and liberals support free trade? Pay employees $6 a day instead of $100 is the game. How does a fool even think that $100 can go up when the direct competion is $6? We have NO choice in America but to lower our standards. We can only hope that $6 raises on the other end and maybe we meet in the middle. Min wage is unsustainable, raising it is a joke. Tariffs and policy to put Americans to work will help. Why is the whole world desperate to support the already filthy rich? Lets let the rednecks and thugs have a chance at a job and a better life, liberals need to accept they're people with dreams too, not subjects.

You want the poor to pay taxes but not make enough money to pay taxes. Conservative logic is not logical.

Because it is a proven way to 'buy votes' using businesses to pay the bribe. If the left can pass a law requiring businesses to pay their employees more, the extra pay is ostensibly a bribe in the likely hope that they will be rewarded for the extra coin. Republicans try to do something similar with tax policy. Lower taxes and the people have more coin and, again, will ostensibly reward them with their vote.

So the left makes business pay their bribe by forcing higher wages and higher prices while the right makes government pay their bribe with lower taxes.

They want to raise the minimum wage because the minimum wage needs to keep up with inflation.

The cost of living is rising faster than the minimum wage.

They want to increase it because they believe they can IGNORE basic economic theory taught in Economics 101. They believe that by raising the minimum wage that worker will be better off. What they IGNORE is that the low skill worker will lose hours, or be replaced by automation. This affect has been proved in the real world time and time again. They also fail to take into account at besides people losing jobs as a result, inflation increases and the cost of goods goes up and any increase in wages is lost to inflation. Their efforts would be much off if they would focus on raising the SKILLS of these workers so that they could qualify for better paying jobs. Minimum wage jobs were NEVER mention to be for adults and a livable wage. They were designed for entry level kids to LEARN work skills.
