Why is my cat begging for food?

I give her only two meals a day half a cup dry food one in the early morning and one late at night. I put the bowl down when I feed her when she's done eating and if there's kibble left I throw it away so that the bowl is clean for the next meal.

Answers:

Dry food is not the best to feed her. Its not that great for any cat. Try switching to quality canned food for both meals and maybe a very small amount of dry on top. Too much dry can cause obesity, UTI issues and early liver/kidney problems.

You are not feeding enough and a cat should NOT be skinny. A healthy cat is slightly round and has no boney places on the back and body. In the wild a cat eats several small meals a day and often save a little for "later". Check with your vet to see if your cat is a healthy weight.

You could just give her a measured amount daily and leave that for the cat to free feed. Free feeding only leads to obesity if you are literally keeping food in the bowl at all times... He wont become obese if you are controlling daily portions.

Cats are kind of stupid and dont recognize the stray peices of kibble as food... They think that if they see the bottom of the bowl, the bowl is empty.

Feed your cat more u idiot. Cats are not dogs, they dont eat everying at once. I give my cat wet food as much as he wants - he eats a little and walks away, there is always food left. He eats a little throughout a day and he is not fat.mu re a mean person, i hope someone will feed u half a cup twice a day

You've got the right idea. You don't want a blimp for a cat. But don't throw anything away.

FEED HER MORE!

I totally agree with tham153. You are being mean to that poor cat. Please feed it more.

It is not normal for cats to gobble everything at once. Leave some behind if she does not eat all at once. Also, an all dry food diet is unhealthy for cats, and can lead to serious problems of constipation. My five cats always have a choice of three wet foods and four dry foods, including both oral care and hairball control. I feed twice a day also, with dry food left for an hour

For cats sharing food is a form of communication and social behavior not just eating, just give her a little morsel here and there when you have food and she'll stay happy ..
